sigh.
i had a family doctor visit today. it's been a long time since i've seen an md for non-cancer issues. the nurse carefully took my blood pressure, pulse, height and weight.
then we sat down to go over my medical history, even though i know it is all electronically available to her with the press of a button.
after recounting my last year of treatment (a simple summary would include bilateral mastectomy, 18 rounds of chemo, and ovariohysterectomy),
she asked
"and what was the first day of your last menstrual period?"

I haven't been to my gp for a long time. My oncologist and endocrinologist pretty much have things covered between them. The gp tends to get overwhelmed.
oh qanzas, you are such a boy.
"LMP" is a standard question for pre-menopausal women. they wanna know if there is chance you're preggers. i know it isn't really a fair slam, because nurses have it on automatic pilot (i'm sure some of them ask the question in their sleep). but having JUST discussed my uterus-removal, i was annoyed. besides, it is my blog and i can be as bitchy as i wanna be. :)
Reminds me of the episode of AbFab when Edina is having a mud wrap that's supposed to suck fat out of her body. The dually trained nurse/spa attendent asks, "Are you now or have you recently had your period?" Edina says, "Why? Is that important?" Nurse says, "No, just making conversation."
